Dr. David Truong
Dr. David Truong is an Infectious Disease Specialist who joined Vancouver Infectious Diseases Centre (VIDC) in August 2016. While he regularly sees patients with general infections, he has as particular interest in HIV, Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B.
At VIDC Dr. Truong is a sub-investigator for multiple clinical trials involving novel therapies, as well as research projects that focus on vulnerable patient populations of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. He regularly attends international medical conferences to present on the ground-breaking research done at VIDC. Some examples of his research include: developing models of engagement for people who use drugs, as well the investigation into the reversal of fibrosis in HIV and Hepatitis C co-infected patients who have undergone treatment for their Hepatitis C infection.
Dr. Truong is actively involved in VIDC’s Community Pop-Up Clinics (CPCs) held weekly in Vancouver’s DTES neighborhood, acting as the on-site physician on a regular basis.
Outside the office he is an avid traveler, having backpacked throughout Southeast Asia, Central America, and more recently Europe. He is also a fanatic snowboarder, and so finds solace when it rains in Vancouver as it translates to snow on the mountains.
